Statement on Brewer's signing of AZ budget

Andrei Cherny, Arizona Democratic Party chairman, issued the following statement today:

"With this budget, the Russell Pearce Republicans have made a direct attack on Arizona’s middle class.

"This budget kills jobs, decimates education and takes cops off the streets. It will even stick homeowners with higher property taxes. Republican rule has left Arizona with monster budget deficits, and instead of cutting runaway government waste and lobbyist-sponsored giveaways, this budget falls on the backs of Arizona's middle class. I doubt this is what Arizonans thought they were voting for last November.

“The Russell Pearce Republicans in power have shown their priorities: special interests and extreme ideology. Arizona Democrats have new ideas for mainstream priorities: a stronger economy, better schools and safer streets. We need to get our great state back on the right track.”
