Statement on AZ Senate budget passage

Andrei Cherny, Arizona Democratic Party chairman, gave the following statement in response to the Arizona Senate passage of a budget plan late Wednesday:

"The extreme priorities of the Russell Pearce Republicans were on full display in Wednesday's budget votes. Instead of working with Democrats to cut wasteful spending and lobbyist-sponsored loopholes, this partisan budget slashes away at jobs for today and our state's economic future. The very lawmakers who recently gave a $500 million handout to big corporations voted to stuff more kids into classrooms and kick more kids off healthcare. The very lawmakers who pushed for a tea party license plate are now pushing our universities off the financial cliff. And the very lawmakers who sold our state Capitol to big banks in New York still haven’t lifted a finger to help create jobs. Arizona needs mainstream leaders who will protect the middle class and fight for a stronger economy, safer streets and better schools. Russell Pearce's extremist agenda is failing Arizona. It's time for a change."
