A Flip-Flopper for a Flip-Flopper
The Arizona Democratic Party released the following statement in response to Jeff Flake’s endorsement of Mitt Romney.
“The only thing Jeff Flake and Mitt Romney both firmly believe in is saying anything to get elected,” said Arizona Democratic Party executive director Luis Heredia. “That’s why today’s news that one flip-flopper has endorsed another infamous flip-flopper comes as no surprise to anyone who remembers Flake’s transparently political move to drop his support for comprehensive immigration reform in favor of the Russell Pearce agenda. Maybe for his next act, Flake will follow Romney in abandoning every other position he’s held with any conviction in hopes of fooling Republicans into believing he's something he's not.”
In case you missed it:
THE OLD JEFF FLAKE SUPPORTING COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM
“It’s easy to just say seal the border and enforce the law – what does that really mean? What does that entail?...For those who don’t agree with my position, who think it ought to be something different, at least they give me a little credit for sticking with my position. Because I’ve always believed this is what we need, and I continue to believe – regardless of the political environment.”
THE NEW JEFF FLAKE ABANDONING WHAT HE HAS “ALWAYS BELIEVED”
“In the past I have supported a broad approach to immigration reform – increased border security coupled with a temporary worker program. I no longer do.”
“All of us who have pushed for broader immigration reform have realized that we’ve been down that road and realized it’s a dead end.” (link)
