Brewer tries to take credit for federal stimulus jobs program despite trashing federal government in State of the State

Luis Heredia, executive director of the Arizona Democratic Party, gave this statement about Gov. Brewer’s press release today:

“Governor Brewer just sent an announcement with a large headline proclaiming that she ‘continues to push for jobs creation.’ The headline didn’t mention that the announcement—$5 million in job-training money for Arizona—was made possible by federal stimulus funding. The hypocrisy here is ridiculous. This is the same governor who attacked the federal government throughout her State of the State address, calling it the ‘largest external threat to Arizona’s budget.’ And now she’s trying to take credit for federal job assistance. This is a classic example of political doublespeak, and we’re confident voters will see right through it.”
