AZ GOP showcases Rotellini's momentum
Republican polls show Democratic candidate jumped 9 points in 6 days
PHOENIX – Arizona Democrats owe a big “thank you” to the state Republican Party for alerting the press and public that Felecia Rotellini is making rapid gains in the attorney general race against Republican Tom Horne.
On Oct. 8, Horne released his own poll that gave himself an 18-point lead over Rotellini. Just 6 days later, the state Republican Party released its own poll showing Rotellini had cut that margin in half.
The rapid retreat from Horne makes sense. As Election Day approaches, more and more voters are learning about Horne's lifetime SEC trading ban and how he lied about his bankruptcy when he filed annual reports for his law firm. [The Arizona Republic, 6/20/10]. Voters are also learning more about Rotellini's record as a respected prosecutor who fights to protect Arizonans.
"If the Republicans show Felecia gaining nine points in six days, at this rate she's a shoo-in for attorney general,” said Luis Heredia, Arizona Democratic Party executive director. “Then again, with Tom Horne’s pattern of skewing facts, we should probably ignore his poll entirely and assume Felecia has already taken the lead.”
