Three days later, Brewer can't explain removal

In radio interview, Brewer has no defense for illegal action

Even Jan Brewer is having trouble explaining why she illegally removed the chair of the Independent Redistricting Commission.

In justifying her action earlier this week, Brewer claimed Colleen Mathis, the independent chair of the Independent Redistricting Commission, had committed "gross misconduct." But neither Brewer nor the Republican senators who voted for Mathis's removal have provided any evidence that she acted inappropriately. In fact, Senate Republicans are having such a hard time explaining their vote that none of them would agree to appear on 12 News's Sunday Square-Off to defend their action this weekend.

As proof that Republicans cannot justify the removal of Mathis, here is an excerpt of Brewer on the Alan Colmes radio show earlier today:

COLMES: What did Colleen do that was inappropriate, Colleen Mathis?

BREWER: Well she acted, uh, inappropriately. Well it was very, pretty much obvious that she in communications, and doing things, uh, not in the public, and the people of Arizona deserve that –

COLMES: You mean she was doing things secretly? Like what?

BREWER: They just simply need to operate in a lawful and open fashion…

COLMES: I’m trying to understand what she did. What are you accusing her of having done?

BREWER: Well she wasn’t operating in the proper manner.

Does that sound like proof of "gross misconduct"? We didn't think so either.
