Rep. Ruben Gallego urges passage of Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior Tax Credits

Rep. Ruben Gallego, Iraq War veteran, released the following statement:

"I know firsthand the courage and dedication that inspires veterans to put their lives on the line for our freedom. And veterans shouldn’t have to face a new battle when they come home: Finding a job."

"I urge Congress to support veterans going back to work by voting today in favor of the Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior Tax Credits – two pieces of the American Jobs Act – that would provide tax credits to businesses that hire veterans. Republicans should put country before party and pass these tax credits."

"The President has already created better counseling and resources to help unemployed veterans find work. These initiatives and the tax credits will lower veteran unemployment through increased hiring, improve resources for veterans to translate their military skills for the civilian workforce, and provide veterans with new tools to aid their search for jobs."

"President Obama is committed to keeping the sacred trust we hold with members of our nation’s military. The President has fought to expand and improve benefits for veterans and their families—from access to health care they need to the education and job opportunities they deserve when they return home. President Obama will always stand up for those who have served."
