Koch brothers have deep ties to Arizona GOP

Bloomberg reports: Koch brothers flout law with secret Iran sales

Arizona Democratic Party executive director Luis Heredia released the following statement in response to the Bloomberg Markets report on the Koch brothers allegedly bribing foreign officials and secretly selling petrochemical equipment to Iran:

“The Arizona GOP has leaned on the Koch brothers and their shadowy network of political groups for years, and today’s news comes as little surprise to those of us who have been fighting the Koch empire. The Arizona Republican Party, Ben Quayle, David Schweikert and Paul Gosar should think long and hard about whether they should be taking thousands of dollars from the Koch brothers and their corporation accused of violating American laws.”

History of the Koch brothers influencing Arizona’s Republicans, totaling $29,000 in direct contributions in just the last year and a half:

• The Arizona Republican Party took $5,000 from Koch PAC in 2010

• Rep. Ben Quayle took $5,000 in two separate donations from Koch PAC in 2010

• Rep. David Schweikert took $5,000 from Koch PAC in 2010, and has so far accepted two contributions totaling $3,000 for his reelection in 2012

• Rep. Paul Gosar has taken $1,000 from Koch PAC so far for 2012

• Republican congressional candidate Jesse Kelly took $5,000 from Koch PAC in 2010

• The Arizona Republican Senate Majority Fund took $5,000 from the Koch PAC
