Brewer to impeach redistricting commission
ADP asks you to show up and be heard at the state capitol
There's simply no other way to put this -- we need as many of you as we can get at the state capitol right now.
Reports are coming in that Jan Brewer is about to call for a special session to impeach the Independent Redistricting Commission.
Why is Brewer fighting against public opinion? Because Republicans don't want to compete, they want power handed to them. The draft congressional map is far from a Democratic map. There are four solid Republican districts, two solid Democratic districts and three 50-50 districts. Why should Republicans not have to compete to win?
You did an excellent job in helping us win the public relations war. Your letters and calls have impacted coverage of Brewer's hijacking of the redistricting process -- and if you didn't see my note yesterday showing off all of the great coverage you've helped us received, you need to check it out.
Despite the fact that the press has firmly weighed in against Brewer, the governor is determined to hijack power from a voter-approved commission led by citizen volunteers, and steer it directly to entrenched political allies.
Your dedication has made a real difference. But today is going to shape the next 10 years for our state, and I need your voices to be heard to apply pressure on Republicans to vote against this reckless move.
Here's what I'm asking:
1) If you can, show up at the east side of the state capitol as soon as possible. Bring signs or anything else that conveys our message that Brewer is overstepping with a blatant political power grab that only benefits the governor's allies at the expense of the state.
2) Call Republican state senators and let them know that voting to impeach the commission is a vote that is going to cost them. The numbers for each senator's office is here.
3) Get in touch with any media contacts you have. Tell them Brewer's decision is ridiculous and unfounded.
4) Voice your objection to Brewer's power grab via every form of communication you have. E-mail your lists, call your friends, tweet it out, post on Facebook -- do whatever you can to make sure that we're heard in every possible way.
Today is one of the most important days of this upcoming election. We need you to make a difference.
