Statement on Senate confirmation of Elena Kagan to Supreme Court

Don Bivens, Arizona Democratic Party chairman, issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm the nomination of Solicitor General Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court.

“We are gratified that the Senate gave swift confirmation of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. She has earned praise from Democrats and Republicans alike for her legal intellect and her fair-minded approach to the law. As a Supreme Court justice, Kagan undoubtedly will use that intellect on behalf of all who seek justice in our legal system. We congratulate Kagan on her confirmation and applaud the president for choosing such a strong nominee.”
