Summer and Fall Internship Opportunities

The Arizona Democratic Party is offering a number of internships for this summer and fall for students wishing to gain an introduction into politics and campaigns. These internships are excellent ways to gain valuable experience and can be stepping stones to finding a role with a campaign in 2012.

We are looking to bring aboard 4 Field Research Interns and 2 Research Interns. Please read below for a description of each internship position.

Research Intern

Length of Internship – 3 months (can be extended based on evaluation at the end of the internship)

Duties:
As a research intern your primary responsibility will be to research campaign finance records, voting records, public statements, and other materials as determined by the Research Director. You will provide detailed analyses to the research director of your findings. You may be asked to attend local events of interest to the Arizona Democratic Party and be asked to provide an analysis as well as record footage.

Qualifications:
A basic understanding of Arizona politics, campaigns, and policy issues | Volunteer work for a previous campaign or issue preferred | Ability to work independently | Strong written skills necessary | Passion for progressive causes a plus | Willingness to be a team player

Details: The Arizona Democratic Party will provide all materials necessary for any local event you are asked to attend. In addition, we will reimburse mileage and other event expenses.

This is an unpaid internship.

Availability / Scheduling:
While we are flexible, we request an availability of at least 3 days a week, totaling 20-30 hours a week.

Field Research Intern

Length of Internship – 3 months (can be extended based on evaluation at the end of the internship)

Duties:
As a field research intern your primary responsibility will be attending committee hearings, community forums, town halls, and other public events that are of interest to the Arizona Democratic Party. You will be responsible for producing a written summary for each event you attend as well as recording the proceedings of the event.

Field Research Interns will also perform additional research tasks at Arizona Democratic Party headquarters. This will include producing written summaries of reports, speeches, and other programming of interest to the Arizona Democratic Party.

Qualifications:
A strong desire to learn the basics about Arizona politics, campaigns, and policy issues | Must have own vehicle or transportation to attend assigned events | Strong written skills necessary | Comfortable using basic digital video, photo and audio equipment | Passion for progressive causes a plus | Willingness to be a team player

Details:
The Arizona Democratic Party will provide all materials necessary for each event. In addition, we will reimburse mileage and other event expenses.

This is an unpaid internship.

Availability:
Interns with the most flexible availability during late-afternoons, evenings, and weekends will be given the most event assignments. Field Research Interns should expect to attend at least one event a week (a commitment of up to 5 hours) and an additional 20 hours a week at headquarters.
